Privacy Policy

Who we are

Creator Map is a creator-powered map of the businesses creators recommend: restaurants, cafés, bars, bakeries, hotels and shops. This policy covers the Creator Map website and its creator and merchant tools.

What we collect

  • Browsing the map: nothing that identifies you. We keep anonymous usage counts (a spot was viewed, a link was tapped) to understand what is useful.
  • If you sign in: your email address, and the spots you save and creators you follow.
  • If you connect Instagram as a creator: your Instagram username and account ID, an access token (stored encrypted, used only by our servers), and the captions, permalinks and thumbnails of your own posts — so we can suggest the places you already recommended. A place you clearly tagged is added to your map automatically; the rest wait for approval, and you can hide any of them.
  • If you have a map on Creator Map as a creator: the captions, tags and links of your public Instagram posts, which we read to build and update your map, whether or not you have connected your account. We keep a copy of each post's preview image and of your profile picture.
  • If you run a venue: the business name, contact email, offer details, and the bill amount (and the receipt number, when staff type one) entered when a member pass is scanned.
  • If you receive payouts as a creator: the account holder name, bank, branch, account number and ID or business number you enter, used only to make your monthly bank transfer and report it for tax, stored encrypted, seen only by the Creator Map team (screens show the last 4 digits; an admin opens the full account number only to make the transfer, and each time is recorded), and deleted when you remove them in your Studio or your account is closed, except the payment records the law requires us to keep for accounting.

Location

Location is optional and off until you turn it on. The map, the lists and every place page work without it.

  • When: only while Creator Map is open on your screen, after you tap “Use my location” and your browser allows it. We never track you in the background or after you close it.
  • What stays on your phone: your position, and a list of places you opened in the last 30 days (their public address, not yours). We use them to show distances and to notice when you are near a place you looked at.
  • What reaches us: when you are within 2 km of a place you opened, a distance band (for example “100–250 m”), the place, and the time. Never your coordinates — our server discards them if anything tries to send them.
  • Who sees it: creators and restaurants see only totals, such as “18 people who looked at this place were nearby this week”. Nobody sees where you are, or that a signal was yours. Being nearby is never treated as a visit; only a pass scanned by the restaurant is.
  • Turning it off: under You → Location. That also clears the places your phone remembered. You can revoke the browser’s permission in its site settings, and ask us to delete the signals already sent (see below).

Applying for a discount

When you apply for a discount at a place, we ask for your email address and, if you like, your name. We keep your application for that place so we can tell you when its discount is available.

Applying asks Creator Map to email you when this place's discount is live. The separate, unchecked sharing box lets the creator whose map you applied from see your name and email and contact you about their offers. We store the exact words you agreed to next to your application.

Creator Map sees every application. A creator sees only the applications that named them and where you ticked the sharing box. Restaurants never see your email. Exports follow the same rule: anything you did not agree to share is withheld.

We keep an application for as long as the discount is being arranged and for up to 12 months after we last emailed you about it, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.

Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works in one click, and it takes you off both lists at once: Creator Map’s and the creator’s. You can also write to privacy@creator-map.com.

What we do with it

We use it to run the product: show the map, build a creator's page, issue membership passes, and attribute a verified visit to the creator who sent the customer. At a partner place, that creator accrues a share of the bill, and the place's perk is marked “Ad” wherever it is shown (see the Terms). We do not sell personal data. We do not use your Instagram content for anything other than generating place suggestions for your own map.

Sharing

These companies handle data for us, each on our instructions and only for the job listed:

  • Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt).
  • Railway: hosts the website and its servers.
  • Bright Data and Apify: read public Instagram posts and profiles for us, to build and update creators' maps. When a creator tags a business account, we read that account's public profile name and address to find the place, and keep them for up to 30 days.
  • Meta: when a creator connects Instagram, their posts come to us from Meta, under Meta's Platform Terms.
  • Google: Gemini reads post captions to find the places they name and to write the short line under a place. Google Places matches each place to its address.
  • Photon (komoot): searches OpenStreetMap for a place name when Google returns few matches.
  • WalletWallet: creates the Apple and Google Wallet passes.
  • Resend: sends our emails.

We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep Instagram data

We keep a creator's Instagram data (their posts, captions, preview images, profile picture and the places found in those posts) until the creator asks us to delete it, deletes their account, or their map is removed from Creator Map. We carry out a deletion request promptly, and within 30 days at most. What a deletion removes, and what stays, is set out below.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it at any time. Email privacy@creator-map.com from the address on your account. We remove your data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.

If you connected Instagram, removing Creator Map from your Instagram “Apps and websites” settings deletes the access token Instagram gave us, straight away, and your account stops showing as connected. It deletes nothing else: your map and the posts already on it stay.

To have your Instagram data deleted, ask Instagram to send us a data deletion request. When it arrives we delete the access token, our copies of your posts with their captions and preview images, the places our system found in those posts, and our copy of your Instagram profile picture, and we stop reading your Instagram posts until you connect Instagram again yourself. The places on your map stay, without links to your posts, and you can remove any of them in your Studio. Instagram shows you a link and a confirmation code; the page behind the link says what was deleted, what stays and why.
